Privacy and SMS Data Use Statement

Consent and Communication
- Explicit Consent: By providing your phone number, you expressly consent to receive automated or manual SMS/MMS messages from Alberta Orthotic & Prosthetic Centre for transactional, informational, or marketing purposes. Consent is not a condition of purchase. 
- Scope: Consent applies only to SMS/MMS and is separate from email or other communication channels. 
- Cross-Border Compliance: Messages may originate from Canadian or U.S. servers. Canadian recipients are protected under CASL/PIPEDA; U.S. recipients under TCPA/CTIA. 
- Terms and Disclosures: We may send the following message types: Two-factor Authentication, Appointment Reminders and scheduling, Appointment confirmations, Assessments, Patient follow-ups, Verifying patient information, and Notifications about delays at Alberta Orthotic & Prosthetic Centre Inc. - Our message frequency may vary based on account activity and the type of care we are providing to you. - Message and data rates may apply, based on your carrier and plan. - Reply STOP to cancel. 
Data Collection and Use
- Information Collected: Phone numbers, opt-in/out records, message content, and interaction timestamps. 
- Purpose: To deliver messages, manage preferences, and comply with legal obligations. 
- Retention: Data is stored for 5 years post-opt-out or as required by law. 
Opt-Out Mechanisms
- Immediate Unsubscribe: Reply STOP (English) or ARRET (French) to any message. Opt-out requests are processed within 10 business days. 
- Assistance: Reply HELP (English) or AIDE (French) for support. Bilingual responses were provided for Canadian recipients. 
Disclosures
- Sender Identification: Messages include [Company Name], physical address, and contact details. 
- Costs: "Standard message & data rates may apply." Excludes emergency services. 
Third-Party Data Sharing
- Restrictions: Phone numbers and consent records are never sold. Third-party vendors must adhere to equivalent privacy standards. 
Security Measures
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. 
- Audits: Annual reviews ensure compliance with CASL, TCPA, and carrier guidelines. 
Regulatory Compliance
- Canada: Follows CWTA requirements, including bilingual messaging, handset verification for subscriptions, and age-gating for restricted content.U.S.: Adheres to CTIA’s 10DLC registration, TCPA’s 1:1 consent rule (effective Jan 2025), and blocks prohibited content.
