What will your prosthetic journey look like?

  • 1. Meeting your team

    Your clinician will be following you through your journey! We do our best to create a safe and comfortable environment for you to meet your clinician and ask any questions.

  • 2. Assessment & Treatment Planning

    Your clinician will assess your limb and functional status as well as your goals. They will then develop a plan unique to you.

  • 3. Funding

    Our team will help to guide you through the funding process.

  • 4. Casting

    Your clinician will take a shape capture of your limb which will then be used to fabricate your prosthesis!

  • 5. Device Fitting

    Once the device has been fabricated, it is ready to be fit! The device will be fit on your limb and adjustments will be made to ensure a comfortable and functional fit.

  • 6. Follow-Up & Adjustments

    Your clinician will continuously re-evaluate your device, fit, and goals, making adjustments as necessary.

Types of Prostheses

  • Lower Extremity

    We are experienced with microprocessor components, cosmetic finishes, and all other types of prostheses.

    • Transtibial (below knee)

    • Transfemoral (above knee)

    • Knee Disarticulation

    • Partial foot/chopart

    • Rotationplasty

    • Ankle Disarticulation (Symes)

    • Hip Disarticulation/Hemi-pelvectomy

  • Specialty Options

    Recreational : Speak to your clinician about an activity-specific prosthesis! This may include a prosthesis for running, skiing, skating, swimming, musical instruments, biking, etc..

    Cosmetics : Show your style! With your prosthesis, we can make it in a design or colour of your choice! Speak to your clinician about your cosmetic options.

  • Upper Extremity

    Prosthetic options include myoelectric, body-powered, cosmetic, and activity-specific/sporting devices:

    • Finger(s)

    • Partial Hand

    • Wrist Disarticulation

    • Transradial (below elbow)

    • Elbow Disarticulation

    • Transhumeral (above elbow)

    • Shoulder Disarticulation

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Make sure to bring your prescription to the first appointment. It is best if you wear clothes that can be easily pulled up to assess the limb (shorts/t-shirt are great!). For lower limb amputations, make sure to bring a pair of shoes (preferably running shoes or sneakers)!

  • Since each device is custom made, our turnaround time is typically 1-2 weeks. Your clinician will confirm this when they re-book you for a fitting.

  • If you hear, see, or feel the device breaking, or if you are noticing new pain or new sores, come in to see your clinician ASAP!

  • Your limb will change so the prosthesis needs to as well! If there are new pressure spots (redness, sores, pain, etc.), you are wearing many socks, you’ve noticed a change in limb volume/shape, or something is not working well, come in to see your clinician.

  • Use mild, unscented hand soap and warm water to wash your liner. Make sure to rinse your liner thoroughly and then let it air dry or pat it dry with a clean towel. When not wearing your liner, make sure to flip it right side out (gel that is against your skin is on the inside).
